When we were watching the Superbowl halftime a month ago of the Who
right after they finished, without missing a beat Taylor said, "well, that was dumb, they should have called Grandpa!" Not every eight year old gets to offer their grandpa up for the halftime entertainment at the Superbowl. Having a Rock-n-Roll star for your grandparent has its' perks.

Here is Dark Horse performing over at Texas Pride BBQ in Huntsville. They brought the house down!! Good Food. Good music.............it was a great night!

bad judgement

I was home with sick kids yesterday. In an effort to take advantage of the time between pressing the forward button on the DVD player (between scratches on the DVDs) and making sure I gave enough sympathy looks between coughs, I decided to DEEP clean by boys bedrooms. Rarely do I ever have such a lapse in good judgement. I have decided to turn myself over to the Authorities. DCFS (Division of Child and Family Service) will surely need to be notified.................. along with the department of health and welfare....................... and if we are going to notify them we might as well make a call to poison control because that green piece of string cheese, I am sure is toxic. I was glad to note that my boys have taken the commandment of food storage literally, unfortunately they choose to store the marshmallows and chips under their beds (make a note to self, review food storage protocol in next family home evening). This is how exhausted I was last night. I could barely keep my head up.

Today I tackle the bathroom and the hallway. My the force be with me in my old age.

You know you need to get out more, when you see a creepy guy on the street and think,"man that guy looks like a villain from Scooby Doo."

Although I have to give Velma and Daphne props they have practically raised my children. Zoiks.........gotta run, Nanner has a sharpie marker next to the couch.

Deductive Logic

I love when the clean, folded clothes, that never got put away last week end up back in the laundry room in the dirty clothes pile un-worn. BECAUSE, if you are a Booth boy, it is way easier to carry the folded clothes down a flight of stairs, and dump them in a hamper, than it is to set them in the closet that is about three feet away. Classic.

Vent Session

Sooooooo...........this is a true story. 100% true. Prepare yourself.........grab a tissue...........you might cry.

A few days ago I ran into a store, chatted up a frenzy with an old friend who worked there and then left. Early the next morning I had to return to that same store to get some stuff that I had placed on order. The woman who checked me out said, "I can't believe we went to high school together."
Me in my cute, happy voice said, "I thought you looked familiar........." (really I was just being nice.......I didn't know her from Adam).
Then she said, "I JUST can't believe it........I mean when I asked Sheri who you were, I was like NO WAY!"
I smiled at her, (which I wish I could take back) Because then she said, "I just can't believe we went to high school together, YOU look sooooo OLD!!"
At this point I let out a half hearted chuckle which was really awkward because in my head I laced it with a swear word. I could have forgiven her except she went on to say," I mean look at me here I am still a baby face and look at you........you look so OLD!" She said that same sentence in about ten different versions. After about the tenth I grabbed my walker and left the store.

True story. Are you crying yet? I wanted to.......Baby face my ace!

This experience also brought to the surface another one I had in college at Utah State. I worked with a great group of girls scanning and checking trucker's logs into a database system (sounds exciting doesn't it?). One day as I was leaving for the weekend one of the girls there said that I always looked like a kangaroo to her. I was like........?.............. Then another girl piped in and said, "I have thought that same thing!" I was like....................WHAT?.............................I smiled and said, "Nobody looks like a kangaroo". They just kept saying it over and over. I stayed really calm and poised and when they were done with their theories on why I resembled a kangaroo, I said to the first girl, "that is funny you think I look like a kangaroo.........Because you have always looked like a pig to me." It shut her right up. To this day it has been my best come back line ever. I wish I would've had one for 'ol baby face when I was standing in front of her.

****(I just want you to know that a few of my post will eventually self-destruct once my children get to the age where they actually read this blog. And should I die before they self-destruct I want them destroyed so they will remember me for baking cookies and singing lullabies and not for swearing and flipping people off).

What to Wear?

Well, someone in heaven is torturing me. I have been called to help teach the youth in the Valley multiple songs and dances for a spectacular Extravaganza!!! Sooo...here is the funny part. I don't sing and I don't dance......well not sober anyway (I don't drink either). My first rehearsal to learn dance numero uno was last month. (My claim to fame in that area in life is my sister, in junior high, was the alternate cheerleader. Thus technically if somebody died she would have been a cheerleader. Also my friend Haley's sister was a cheerleader). I showed up to the extravaganza, in boots, jeans, hat, and coat. Everyone else shows up in stretchy pants and pink jump suits. They spread us out over the gym floor and sure enough as my luck would be is I am dead center. Which wouldn't be so bad but someone with a sick and twisted mind decided it would be a good idea to video the leaders doing the dance. So there I am dead center, dancing with the stars (the sparkly, perky jumpsuits) dropping f bombs in my head. Not knowing where to look because if I looked straight I was looking into the camera (that I was praying was going to say "you've just been punk'd), and if I looked to my side it would look like i didn't know what he%# I was doing (which I didn't). Tonight is round two, where I get to go learn another song and dance (which is good because I have already forgotten the first one we learned). My dilemma is this do I wear my swimsuit, with tights under it, so I look like a dancer, or do I wear my black velor jumpsuit with some tinfoil underneath to add a touch of sparkle to my moves? If it helps to make up your mind the music is spiritual pop.........the kind that can causes the gag reflux.......and I do love that swimming suit.

DR. John's at your local grocer.

I was at the Valley market today shopping for the usual; milk, cereal, fruit, etc. When I turned to go down the canned food aisle something caught my eye.......

............Love Cuffs. I didn't even know grocery stores carried them.

The Valley Market definately goes above and beyond your average grocery store.

P.S Tom the store owner said the whip will be in stock next week. You better get there early before they are all gone!

The Truck in the Muck!

Two nights ago a truck got stuck in our yard.....major stuck, in the muck. A backhoe was then called to retrieve the truck, that was stuck in the muck. The backhoe, while pulling the truck from the muck, tipped over, in the muck........ it too got totally stuck. A tow truck showed up to dig out the backhoe that fell in the muck, trying to pull out the truck that was still stuck. The tow truck was able to get the backhoe and the truck out of the muck, (it took three hours....yuck!) What scares me is not the muck, or the truck that was stuck.......but that we were able to sleep through the truck driving off the road and into the muck and the sound of everything getting stuck. Why is it you can sleep through all that BIG action, and not be able sleep through a tiny fly that is buzzing up and down the window.
