Keep Your Eye on the Ball………

Last week we packed up the car and headed west. We left behind laundry that needed folding, a yard that needed weeding and deadlines that needed to be ignored……. it was five days of pure heaven. We came back with sand in between our toes and the smell of ocean in our hair. The beach re-charged our batteries, in a way that only the ocean can and it was a blue heaven in our everyday hectic life. Below is how we spent the low tide hours…..

Crossing the Border to Switzerland.

Remember the scene in the Sound of Music movie where the Vontrapp family escape the Nazis by hiking up over the Alps and into Switzerland? Here is the Boothcrew spin on that scene…... We went up over Mt. Ogden, hiked through brush, rocks and steep terrain…..only to find the Switzerland border covered in snow.

Little did we know that when we hit the snow line….the real adventure was just beginning……from here the only tracks up were ours…..

Taylor resting and getting his feet out of the cold snow. The last hour up to the saddle we pretended we were hiking up the Hillary step of Everest. Chad would kick in a trail and we all would follow. The Oxygen was thin…..very, very thin………(that is what I kept telling the boys)

Chad (a.k.a Captain Vontrapp) with his Nerf sword, in case he had to fight off any snow yetis. (I love this picture…… Peter Pan will always live on in Chad. Probably the first Nerf sword to ever make it to the top of Mt. Ogden)

All in all our adventure took 6 hrs from the 27th street trailhead to the bottom of the Snowbasin parking lot. The hills were alive with the sounds of music…..and snow crunching under our shoes. Switzerland has never looked more beautiful.
