taylor

Men go abroad to wonder at the heights of mountains, at the huge waves of the sea, at the long courses of the rivers, at the vast compass of the ocean, at the circular motions of the stars, and they pass by themselves without wondering.”

One final moment of Summer.

Summer is the time when one sheds one's tensions with one's clothes, and the right kind of day is jeweled balm for the battered spirit. A few of those days and you can become drunk with the belief that all's right with the world. ~Ada Louise Huxtable

Summer..............I must say.........I am already missing you!

DARK HORSE and NIKKI

Dark Horse Rides TONIGHT!!! Dark horse is bustin' out of the corrals and playing tonight at the Texas Pride BBQ in Huntsville. The party starts at 6:00, bring a chair, a jacket and........... Your Dance moves...... your gonna need them! What other band do you know that can produce these inspiring dance moves??

This is Nikki, one of my best friends of all time. She has moves no one can touch. She is the Goddess of the Dance Floor. To dance with her, is to dance with the GREAT ONE. There are few childhood memories that I have where Nikki is not in them. I love Nikki, she spent a whole day years ago at Bear Lake trying to teach me the running man move. It finally clicked after hours of devoted practice. It was then she become my dancing mentor, my idle. Even though we were close to the same age she became my leader to follow. Thanks Nikki for teaching me some wicked dance moves.

Tanner + Camera=............

Lots of Nanner! Someone is totally in love with himself.
I found these little surprises (along with about twenty more) on my camera when I uploaded my pictures today. Somehow Tanner has a way of leaving his mark on everything he touches.

LOTOJA!!

LOTOJA 2009. 206 miles. Eleven hours and 22 minutes. Mission accomplished.

Here is our biker man......

Taking off.

On the move. I am loving this sign.

Chad reaching the top of Salt River Pass.

Salt River Pass is the high point of the course. At this point in the race I was at home probably finishing off my first box of Bon Bons.

Chad giving the "Feeling OK sign."

Chad at the finish line.

All of the above photos are brought to you by Team Discovery's team manager Ross Walker. He supported Chad for the duration of the race. Here is a picture of our team captain that I stole off Facebook....well half a picture anyway.
While pirating a picture of our team captain I came across this little post of his on Facebook, thought it was funny and thought I would include it with his picture (Ross is also one of the funniest people you will ever meet). Hence, I present ROSS' stream of thought:

Feeling a little lazy today.
You know how there is always that one person in the neighborhood that is just so ‘in shape’ and fit that it makes you crazy? Yeah, well I have a whole neighborhood full of them! Allow my to share a little detail on just 3 of them.. there are many more.
In order to protect the identities of the innocent lets just call these 3 Chad, Shane and Nick.
First Shane.. this guy is a freak..i mean amazing. To say that Shane like to run would be like saying that I have lost a little hair. I am not exaggerating when I say that Shane's ‘training’ runs are marathon distance. No kidding, 25 miles is like a bi-weekly event for this guy. Its also important that you know that pavement is for sissies in Shane's book. He runs daily on trails, but he does it at the pace that normal (using that term loosely) people run on the road. This Saturday Shane ran whats called the Wasatch 100 (its being considered the replace water-boarding in the military). Its a 100 mile trail run across the peaks of the Wasatch Front. He completed the run is 28 hours. No sleep, just run for more than a whole day. They actually have people that do like a physical at the rest stations to determine if you are allowed to continue! Shane, if you need a Dr. to tell you if you are allowed continue you then it might not be a safe sport?!
Nick…. Nick is also a runner, and the worst kind. You see Nick is so flippin’ casual about running that you feel fat just standing next to the guy. Finding out that he participated in a Marathon is like finding out other people ate breakfast. He does it so easy. Never says a word about training, pain, recovery, finish times or anything else. Just loves to run. Like it is just one of those things that people do, and is almost looks surprised to find out that you did not run 3 billion miles this morning. He probably passed you in your car on the way to work this morning. Hate this guy!
Last but not least Chad. Chad needs help trying to decide exactly which event to kick your trash in. Running, biking, kayaking or under-water basket weaving Chad does them all. This weekend I got to play support crew for Chad as he did the LOTOJA. 208 miles over 3 mountain passes from Logan to Jackson. Yeah, even makes the Mormon Pioneers shudder in pain. A few choice quotes from Chad as he completed this event in 11 hours. ”Gosh, that was the funnest 30 miles ever” or “Not too bad, I mean we could have done better than the 20+ MPH we did UP that canyon” and my favorite was “Wow, I feel really good” as he walked away from the finish line like he just got up off the couch! Wouldn’t you just love to slap him?
If you ever start to think you are pretty fit and cool then come visit my neighborhood. I will introduce you to the 3 amigos, then you can feel as pathetic as I do.
(I really hope that if they stumble across this blog post they have a sense of humor than matches their leg muscles!)
p.s. This weekend.. I ate a whole plate of cookies in like 5 hours. Yeah, I am the man!

September 11th

World Trade Center Architect Minoru Yamasaki said of his best-known creation, "The World Trade Center should, because of its importance, become a living representation of man's belief in humanity, his need for individual dignity, his belief in the cooperation of men, and through this cooperation his ability to find greatness."

September 11, 2001. We were staying at my Mom and Dad's, we were getting ready to move into a home we had just bought. My Dad called downstairs for us to turn on the television and that we (The United States) were being attacked. Chad was in the kitchen, I was still down in the basement. His voice was serious and the tone somber. He told us about the planes. Chad turned on the TV, I ran upstairs and watched with him and the rest of the world as the smoke was billowing and another plane was crashing. I recognized the buildings right off. I can distinctly remember reviewing in my mind the World Trade Center and what it had been like when I visited with my mom and sister in high school. My mom took us there during our trip to New York. She wanted us to see the tallest buildings in the city. She took us inside to see the trading and the hustle and the bustle. I have a picture of my sister and I, young versions of ourselves sort of mocking the fact that our mother would make us pose in front of another "tall" building. How different that picture seems to me now. There we were two young girls carefree and oblivious to the fact that seven years later that very spot would be known as Ground Zero. Knowing that September 11th was approaching, I have thought a lot about that morning. It is an event that unites us all. Regardless of whether we want it to or not. We all share that experience, that moment of vulnerability of when those planes hit. That moment when you thought about all those innocent people trapped inside a burning building, the silent prayer you said for them. The moment when you saw people jumping from the burning flames. The moment when that first tower fell as if it were toy blocks being knocked over. That moment when you realized the power of hate. That moment when you felt fear. That moment when you knew that life as we knew it was never going to be the same. What do you remember?

THE REAL kkboothdesign blog

Hey, I just learned how to do a link (it was hard, but my good friend Kelly Walker directed me to the link button at the top of the posting window) and she also taught me how to make my design blog public so that everyone can see it, sorry for the inconvenience life is so hard for those of us who can't speak computer. That is why Kelly Walker is president and I am vice president of Kelly club (we are currently accepting new members if you happen to have a name that is kelly, rhymes with kelly or if you have ever been called jelly in your life). Here is the official link to my design blog kkboothdesign.blogspot.com. They say you should learn something new everyday, well today I have learned two new things that means that tomorrow I can just play dumb.

How to wear a mountaineering helmet.........

The lettering should be seen from the front. Adjust the straps to fit your face. Safety should always come first. This demonstration is brought to you by a three year old.

Priorities

Last year Zachie invited a friend to come over and play. I had to drive and drop off a paper before we were to head home. We weren't in the car five minutes until his friend started upchucking all over the seat and himself. I pulled over to the side of the road, got the little guy out of the car where he proceeded to barf and barf (I had no idea a four year-old could throw up twice his body weight). As I was holding Zach's friend while he puked, Zach looked on intently, mesmerized by all the throw-up. He then, looked over at me and casually said, "MOM.............................can I play with a different friend?" It was one of those funny moments; there we were pulled over on the side of a busy road, knee deep in throw-up, the car stunk beyond belief, there were chunks of hot dogs spewed all over half the back seat and all Zach could worry about was what friend he was going to play with, now that his "intended" friend was clearly on his way home. Priorities, we learn them very early in life don't we.

P.S
Just for the record and so I don't get any, "remind me never to ride in your car comments" Yes my car was detailed, clean out, shampooed, by none other than Moi, myself and I.
