When you stand at the edge of a cliff…………….
Jump to fly……..
Not to fall.
Chad & Carver, Ka’annapali Beach (Black Rocks), Maui, HI January 2012.
Over the Martin Luther King holiday weekend Booth Crew travelled down to Vegas to watch Carver and Taylor play in a soccer tournament. Here are some pics of our little Jaunt in the desert……….
Chad and the older boys travelled down two days early. In an attempt to save money he booked his first night’s room on Priceline. After a night’s stay, in a room that resembled the hotel rooms you see on Dateline where they take the fluorescent light around the room, he decided to jump ship and book a room somewhere a little nicer. Little did he know that he booked a room at the same resort as the Adult Porn Convention……..needless to say my boys saw more of Vegas than anyone ever needs to. Here is a picture of how they would walk through the casinos. They hated the smokey air!
On Sunday we didn’t have any games so we ditched the city and headed to Hoover Dam and Valley of Fire. It turned out to be one of those unexpected gifts of a day. The boys loved dropping rocks off the giant bridge at Hoover Dam and climbing and hiking all over the red rock at Valley of Fire. We had a ball!
Chad, Tan Man and Zachie on the Memorial Bridge looking north toward Hoover Dam and Taylor the same below.
The four bros posing for Mom against their will
Valley of Fire…….Such a cool place! This area was called the Red sandstone area, located just outside the park and we loved it there!!
Zachie bounding around on the Red sandstone formations…..
Taylor peeking over the edge….
Zachie had to pull a pretty impressive climbing move to reach this vantage point.
Carver staking his claim on this beauty of a rock.
In the background of this picture you can see the color of Valley of Fire and why it has that name. But, that is not the real reason I posted this picture. I am posting this pictures for two reasons. #1. I am not eating in it and # 2. my eyes are not closed.
The below picture needs no description.
The boys relaxing in a deserted sandstone hot tub. A relic abandoned and left by the ancient Indians that once called this area home…..or at least that is the story they got.
The rock formations had these amazing caves and caverns with lots of neat holes that created windows and nooks inside them. This is one Taylor staked as his. We were all covetous, it truly was the best crib on the block…. I mean rock.
Striking a pose on one of the hikes we took.
We passed this car leaving Hoover Dam. For some reason it just fit the whole 1920’s/1930’s vibe of Hoover dam. For a brief moment we felt transported back in time.
Once in a while, right in the middle of an ordinary life……
Love gives us a fairy tale.
Happy Anniversary Sweets!
